Sponsored by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, the UCLA Geriatric Education Center offers a 3-day Mini-Fellowship Program dedicated to improving the quality of life of older persons through training the faculty members who are teaching future clinicians.

  • Four tailored tracks to choose from: Generalist, Hospitalist/Skilled Nursing, Palliative Care and Educational Assessment
  • Topics include: Pain Management for the Elderly, Advanced Care Planning, Breaking Bad News, Delirium and Dementia and much more (see track-specific program schedules attached below)
  • Interative sessions include: Standardized Patient Assessment, Standardized Student Simulation, Developing Platform Skills and Problem-Based Learning
  • Meals are provided for all three days
  • FREE enrollment for eligible participants. Must have a medical license (MD, DO, etc.), a faculty/teaching appointment and limited geriatric training
  • CME credits available



At the conclusion of the Mini-Fellowship Program, participants in all tracks will be able to:

  • Create and implement an action plan to improve the quality of geriatric education at their institution
  • Learn how to maximize content delivery effectiveness through developing platform skills
  • Through the use of standardized students, work constructively with other participants to solve communication challenges
  • Demonstrate functional feedback techniques during one-minute precepts
  • Identify cognitive and physical dysfunctions in the elderly patients
